I use it every day while at work and it does the job. It has a lot of options and doesnt crash.

Been my go-to for years. Ive heard of issues with iCloud syncing, but I dont use that and the app seems to work well for me.
I’ve tried the latest, greatest, and highest rated podcast apps. If you’re a power user, you’ll always come back to Downcast. The customizability and options are essential to the power user, though the average podcast listener probably won’t care. My hope is that even though they’re the best, they continue to strive for bettering themselves for their user group: power users. Areas I’d like to see improved: speed and app responsiveness, more audio boosting options, a slider bar for precise speed (like pocket casts). Otherwise, this app is TOP of the game. Serious.
this is one of those gems that just works and works and works. trustworthy as it gets. used it for years and from the satisfying blips it makes when Im downloading new podcasts to the continuous developer support, this is THE podcast app.
Best podcast app available
Ice bee using downcast since before podcasts became a pre-packaged app on iPhones. This app has had some bugs which prevent full use (podcasts selected would not begin putting out sound until you scroll back). However, the developer is very good about regularly updating and fixing all issues Ive had so far. Thanks for making this app so useful. I really use it more than 3 times a day.
A very good app with a problem in last half-dozen versions where sometimes an episode will show a download error, then show up anyway in a playlist as downloaded, but the file will be only 800b long and have no audio. This disrupts the continuous playback of my carefully curated podcast playlists that is the best feature of the app. It is no longer a steady, reliable companion for long drives, washing dishes, or long sessions working in the garden—situations where having to pause and manipulate the phone to restart playback with the next episode in the queue is irritating or outright dangerous. I have given a lot of feedback and still no progress. It should be possible to make sure that such problem downloads, rather than stopping playback and requiring accessing the phone to continue with the next correct podcast in the queue, are simply skipped and the next playable episode continues. This is a design flaw and a safety risk especially while driving—when I count on long periods of uninterrupted hands-free playback. Still hoping this problem can be fixed, because this app is so much better than the disaster of iTunes and the apple Podcast app.
Before your Most recent update i would have given you guys at Downcast 5 stars But since the last update Now the App has A Long Lag between screens and menus. Also i use it everyday at work and Ive noticed a very noticeable Battery Drain than before. Please fix all this so i dont have to start over with a Brand New App. Thanks
Unintuitive interface. App would not open after latest update. Had to uninstall. Uninstall deleted my entire library. Dont recommend.
This app used to be five stars. However, now it constantly crashes while playing and streaming new episodes. Website claims fixes but they dont work. Looking for replacement.
Update has been buggy, sometimes slow/non-responsive. Ive been using for years and know this is the best when it works. But the developer needs to be more careful when new updates are pushed out, sometimes they break more than they fix.
Everything I was looking for. My new favorite app.
I believe the latest update completely changed my ability to use the app. New podcasts sometimes show up and sometimes stay hidden in the played/empty section. I have to know what was downloaded to know where to look now. Will have to find new podcast app as this one now defeats the purpose of having an app.
The most functional and versatile podca
Wish I didn’t pay for this clunky app. It’s difficult to zoom around and create playlists, annoying to tap here and there trying to figure out whats going to download fully or stream options… then multiple layers to get in or out of the podcast notes. Downcast gets high reviews from several websites but the truth is that it might be close to one of the better apps… but the are all awful! Avoid this app if you want playlists for running or any continuous listening.
This app is my favorite because I use more than any other app. I use it every single day. Its reliable, highly functional, and does exactly what it is supposed to do.
Downcast has a few bugs still in it after years of usage on part, but this app is by far the most reliable one I have found to manage podcasts. It lets you choose which episodes you want to stream or download, and offers options to limit downloads and streams to wifi to help with data.
I am sitting on a plane using my beloved Downcast app to catch up on shows, and just thought how cool would it be to have pip video for my video podcasts.... LITERALLY three minutes later I check for app updates and Downcast now has this! LOVE LOVE LOVE GREAT WORK!!!
Great for listening to the No Agenda Podcast in the morning!
This is, hands down, my favorite and most-used app. It has all the bells and whistles youd expect. Variable speed, great video podcast support, playlists, iCloud syncing, a great Apple Watch app (one of the best Ive seen), and now picture in picture? Yes please! Ive been using Downcast for more than five years, and Im continually impressed at the developers responsiveness and the frequency of updates.
