Downcast App Reviews

Ive enjoyed using this app for a couple years, but lately it has been repeating parts of a podcast- once or twice a show- maybe repeating about 15 seconds after playing it once, then resuming the rest of the show. Its also recently, since the last update, started closing the app when I try to add a new podcast. I got around it by asking it to download instead of stream, then converted it to stream from the download screen.

The latest version fails to resume playback after pausing. Almost useless now

Best podcast app there was until the new update. Bugs get worse every week. Will be switching apps until they update the app to support the new iOS.

Love this app and use it daily but it has become so buggy its nearly unusable. Update: now completely unusable. Cant find new podcasts or download episodes. Hope this is fixed soon. My list of podcasts frequently disappears if I scroll down, podcasts fail to download properly and are unplayable. Really disappointing. I hope these issues and others are fixed soon

Used to be great. Now very buggy. Cant see what is subscribed. Odd duplicate downloads.

Downcast had been a super way to manage and listen to my podcasts, but the most recent update to it and iOS 10 are not working well together. There are ghost downloads, settings that keep being reset, misaligned headers (very distracting when changing poscasts while driving), and misrepresentation of podcasts in the download list (showing one podcast description while leading to a different podcast when tapped). This current version needs MAJOR BUG FIXES, NOW!

It has been great. Never had a problem, until iOS 10. Not sure if the devs have abandoned this app, but major indexing problem that causes force closing. Ill give them the benefit of the doubt. Still the best podcast app for iPhone.

The GUI bugs introduced with iOS 10 make it frustrating and annoying to use.

Had to change this to one star because theres been a bug that causes my podcast feed to disappear after refreshing since the upgrade to iOS 10. Without an update it makes the app very difficult to use. Will happily change this back to five stars if this ever gets corrected.

Such an improvement over the Apple Podcast app. It just works.

This app seems to be abandoned. Ive moved on to iCatcher, which does everything I ever did with Downcast (but I dont use the playlist features, so I cant vouch for those).

I am getting the bugs and corrupt downloads. I still think it is the best option.

Ruined since iOS 10 update. Very buggy, unstable.

just as much I as enjoy the content, I want artwork to display. My artwork has suddenly disappeared and there seems to be no fix for this besides deleting app and reinstalling. update: good app but in need of bug fixes!!

I used to love this app. Now it is so buggy. The apps get mixed up with each other. Requires multiple restarts.

This is a great podcast app. I tried it after I got frustrated with the built in apple app and never looked back.

Fantastic stable pro podcast player with every setting you could want. I wish they would implement silence skipping/dynamic speed to make it truley perfect. Would be nice to have more control over playback speed than just preset incremental changes. Highly recommended. A workhorse of an app.

The best podcast app ever...until iOS 10, and now all I can say is dysfunctional. Yes, Ive contacted support. Specific podcasts dont update any longer, but they do update on other podcast apps. Open Podcast A and see the content for Podcast B. Delete an episode of a podcast and watch the app crash. I worked with the developer for a while testing beta, but the bugs have only increased and support has become nonexistent. Ive moved on to Overcast and couldnt be happier with the functionality.

For several years this has been an awesome 5 star app. But lately the developer appears to have dropped offline and stopped updating this app. It has problems with iOS 10. Could be personal stuff and busy with life. I will update this once we see if the problems get fixed. Update 22-Nov-2016 - it seems the Dev has stopped work on this app. It was fantastic for years. I even donated to him when he added that option in the last update. Guess enough people didnt see it the same. Too bad but its crashes in iOS 10 makes it useless now and Ive moved on to another podcast app. Dropped to 1 star. If the Dev would sell me the code I would take it over, he lives in the same city as I do.

Basically unusable on my 6s after software update. Constant crashes and kills battery. Only app giving me trouble.
